Books for Mothers

Salam all.

I have always loved books. I used to only read the novel & fiction types. Later on, i discovered a newfound love for self-help books. Yeah, sometimes people tend to think that they are a bit overrated & cliched, but so far reading them has been nothing but beneficial to me.

So...since sharing IS caring, harini I nak share sikit lah on some of the books that i read (& re-read) when it comes to motherhood.

1. I got this at the Big Bad Wolf sale. Not bad. Basically it gives you tips on how to take it easy when it comes to motherhood. Prioritise on things that benefits your children family the most, instead of concentrating&stressing over the petty stuff.

2. Whoaahh! Ok, some warning first. This book is quite controversial. The author herself is not a mother per se, she is merely a nurse with a lot of experience in taking care of newborn babies & toddlers. She came up with these specific routines on breastfeeding/feeding/sleeping etc.. So, some readers find her a bit too strict to be applying that on small babies. However, as one of her fan myself, i would disagree. Coz her routines are just basic guidelines. You can slowly fit them to your baby's natural rythm as well as your own comfort.
This book has been the BEST for me so far. I applied the routines with Sara as soon as she was born. And i think, Sara has been a well behaved (so far, alhamdulillah) & 'contented' baby because of this book :)

3. This is a more easy-going book, although it also lays out some routines for your baby. What i like most about this book is it teaches you on how to detect & interpret signals from your baby. From there, you will know whether your baby is wet/tired/hungry/wants attention, etc...

4. Haha. This is pretty self-explanatory. Also a very good book. If you want to shape your baby's IQ from the get-go, read this! It tells you how you're supposed to communicate with them from the moment that there were born. Also highly recommended! (Just for the record, Sara starts talking at the age of 8 months old)

5. Aaaand...finally this has been my recent purchase. Of course, the reason is obvious. As a first time mother to a second baby, i need to know about all the "what to do & what not to do" with Sara when once her baby brother arrives.

Alhamdulillah, it has mostly been positive with Sara. She has been quite an advanced baby (so people say). We even think that she can be too matured for her age at times, coz she is such a talkative toddler. She continues to surprise us every single day! She can now eat & play on her own, and she was fully toilet-trained at the age of 2 (thanks to my mother's advice)

Learning itself is a never ending process. So we keep on trying our best to provide the best for our children. Kan? The rest, we shall leave it to HIM.
Berusaha, berdoa, bertawakkal. May all of us mothers be blessed with wonderful & healthy children.. Ameeeen :)

Lamanye Tak Update Blog Weii !!

Haluu haluu...Salam everybody.

Manelah menghilangnye ilham dan sumber inspirasiku.... *haha. puitis sungguh!*
Semua pakai 'touch & go' update je, jatuh standard betul. Sendiri pun x puas hati ni. Hmmmphh!

Well...end of 2013 up until now i have been a bit quiet. As i have announced earlier, we have a 2nd baby on the way. I found out that i was pregnant during raya haritu. Alhamdulillah..syukur. On that note, there wasn't a lot of people knew that we went through a small bump along the way. We lost a baby at 5 weeks old in January :(
Little that we knew a surprise awaits us in August. Allah is Great! :)

Hence, the pregnancy journey began. Sama je dengan time kakak dia dulu. Complete package lah bak kata orang. Mual, muntah, tak boleh makan, pening, tak larat bangun. Just name it. Luckily we were in the States when it started. Somehow they have a good set of medication for morning sickness. Apasal doctor i kat sini dulu xde bagi pun ubat2 tu.. Huhuhuu *oh, pasal ubat2 ni, we shall continue in another post*

So, 3 months went by. Dengan perit jerih morning sickness.

And then we were back again on Malaysian soil in late November. By that time we were busy with housekeeping stuff & all... Ye lah, dah 3 bulan xde kat rumah. Kena la tengok2 ape2 yg patut.

Up until recently, I was busy preparing for the baby's arrival. Setting up the big sister's room, buying new stuff for the baby (clothes, diapers, toiletries, play pen, dresser). Beli sikit2 je la, mane yg kakak dia punye still ok lagi, kita recycle je. Hehe.. adat la kan
*ni pun nanti i bagi tips sikit on how to prepare for baby no.2*
Baby no.2 ni rasanya mcm more confident. I mean in terms on preparation la. Mesti most mothers out there experience the same thing jugak kan. Yela, sebab kita dah go through with the 1st one, so dah tau la mane2 red flags yang patut. Kan? Kan? Kan?
I just hope (and been praying) that it will be a normal delivery this time. VBAC lah kiranya. (Vaginal Birth After Caesarean)
Time kakak dia dulu pun tak mentally prepared kot for C-section. Cuak giler ok! Masuk OT menggigil2 sampai doctor kena letak heater atas badan. Hamekkawww!

Okaylah, this is it for now. Kita warm up sikit2 dulu la ekk... With this i leave you with a sneak preview of our Baby Boy. Insya Allah...

Halal Malaysian Food in Washington DC

Both of these restaurants are very nearby to each other. Personally i prefer the Malaysia Kopitam. The menu is more extensive. You can get roti canai, satay, mee kari, nasi lemak, nasi ayam, asam laksa, and other Malaysian favourites.

At New Dynasty the menu is limited and the taste is quite bland. Oh well, maybe it's just me... Go check them both out if you happen to be in Washington DC & looking for halal food :)

    Hi ! Salam to all...

Actually masak kari ayam ni dah banyak kali. Tapi kali ni saje nak carik resipi yang paling simple. Sebab rasa mcm tengah malas sangat. Ye la...dengan perut yang tengah memboyot ni!

    Alhamdulillah Syukur...

This is one of the most magical photos that a woman can have in her life! Alhamdulillah this was during my first check up for my second pregnancy.

Personalised Cushion Covers for Engagement Ceremony

    Salam all...

This is a way overdue entry. I actually made this for my lil bro's (well he's not so little anymore) engagement back in September. It was sort of a surprise for him coz the order came from his now fiancĂ©. Hehe..

They both loved it anyhow. I was also quite surprised with the final product. It was just a simple embroidery on a plain white fabric. However, i did match it with a striped fabric for the backing. Not bad after all...
